An Operating System is the software that interacts with the hardware of a computer and functions as the intermediary between the installed applications and the hardware, which includes peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an application, it transfers requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the communication is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, hosting servers also feature an Operating System which acts as a host for all of the software installed on them, including script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you'll be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast with the physical server host Operating System.

Multiple OS in VPS

We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs on the market and we provide all three of them instead of only 1 because we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software applications you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you would like to use one and that is why we offer multiple Control Panels too. Should you decide that you need some other OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you need. We also offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license fees, but they’re also known as the most stable and risk-free OSs. We offer three different ones since each one of them is backed by a separate community. The packages that you can add on your server are different and this may matter in case you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you'll choose. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, however if needed, we can always set up the server anew with a different one upon your request. As an additional service that you can add to the package whenever you want, we can update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible.
